The following commands creates a keystore containing a self-signed certificate. The keytool utility is present as part of the Java Runtime Environment (JRE), either in the standalone JRE installation, or under the 'jre' directory of the JDK installation. The certificate and key file are created in the following locations respectively. The following command create a self-signed certificate for the specified machine. The genkey command can generate a certificate request or a new self-signed certificate. If they are not already installed, install the mod_ssl, openssl and crypto-utils packages. The keygen command allows you to generate certificate and key file pairs directly from the command line.
